Softball Increases Win Streak To 14 With Two Wins Over Goldey-Beacom

Game One
Game Two

WEST CHESTER, Pa.
– West Chester easily dispatched visiting Goldey-Beacom in two five-inning affairs during a non-conference doubleheader at the softball field Wednesday afternoon, taking each tilt by lopsided scores of 16-2 and 10-2, respectively.

West Chester (19-6) increased its school-record winning streak to 14 straight with the doubleheader whitewash of the Lightning. The Golden Rams have already tied their win total from a year ago and will look to reach the 20-win mark by April 1 for the first time in school history this weekend.

West Chester scored eight runs in the bottom of the first inning of game one and tacked on seven more in the third to open a 15-2 advantage. The Rams pounded out 20 hits and took advantage of five Goldey-Beacom errors to shorten the contest to five innings.

In the nightcap, West Chester scored in all five innings, ending the contest with a bases loaded walk issued to Tara Colantuono with nobody out.

Megan Harbaugh slammed her fourth home run of the season, a three-run blast, in the bottom of the first inning of game two. Erin MacNamee doubled home two runs in the second. Kristin McCoy singled home two in the third. Colantuono doubled in a run in the fourth and later scored on an error by GBC’s first baseman, before drawing the bases loaded walk in the fifth that sent everybody home.

Ashley Saussaman (3-0) picked up the win in the nightcap. She went the distance, allowing five hits and two runs while striking out three and not walking a batter.

Shannon Padula (14-3) matched her win total from a year ago with a complete-game five-hitter as well. She yielded two runs, only one of them earned, did not walk anybody and struck out three.

MacNamee finished the doubleheader 6-for-7 with three RBI and three runs scored. Colantuono was a combined 2-for-5 with five RBI. McCoy went 5-for-5 at the plate with five runs scored and five RBI.

Kelsey Rapp was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and three RBI in the first game. Kerbacher was 3-for-3 in the second game.
